Discoveries Beyond Gold

Vertical Bridge Pilings
Discovering leftovers from the past, like this wooden bridge foundation, brings ancient history alive and shows us the unbroken chain between then and now.

It was a Neolithic tribe called the Swiss Lake Dwellers, living in modern Switzerland some 6,000 years ago, who is credited for the concept of using wooden pilings for construction. They used pilings for elevation, to protect them from creatures in the wild.
