Yesterday, while making bracelets out back on the patio, the first sweet serenade of spring seeped into my ears. I wanted to holler so all the villagers would know the wrens are back.
Our bird feeders are enticing the Baltimore Orioles, dressed in orange and black. The Indigo Buntings, donned in radiant blue, perch beside the yellow and black Goldfinch. Rose Breasted Grosbeaks fly in for their share, wearing stately black, with red and white accessories. The Chipping Sparrows may not be the prettiest of our partakers, but one can't help admiring their crowns of brown and their humility for eating leftovers the others drop on the ground. The regal red Cardinals and Wrens spar for first place in my heart. Our backyard is a colorful sanctuary, fostered by hubby's devotion to the winged ones.
What would our world be like without colors? For today, let's all pay close attention to the colors that surround us. And, then think what life would be like in black and white.

I have often thought about this very topic. I love color. I suppose that if I'd never seen color I wouldn't know anything but black and white and probably wouldn't think anything of it.
It's what we're blessed with, privileged to know and experience that should we suddenly lose it that we are at a loss.
Somewhere I once read that God must love us beyond our understanding to have graced our world with color.
