Zelnicky, a Czech Cracker

A....n...o...t...h...e...r   rainy day here.  People have the funniest ways of reacting to the weather.  Yesterday a befuddled lady was walking down the sidewalk, threw her arms up over her head, pointed and waved them like she had the power to make the rain stop.  She looked pretty silly, yet we knew exactly what she was trying to tell us without actually saying anything.

Today is round #2  in my attempt to make a Czech snack called Zelnicky.   My first try tasted okay, but the texture was too crumbly.  Am scrapping that recipe for another.  My kitchen is turning into a science lab, and it's scary.

Most households of our era have oodles and gobs of cookbooks.  I have one cupboard strictly for recipe books put together by churches and other organizations. Sadly, the Internet has decreased their value, cuz I rather surf the sites that show pictures of food.  Lots of times it's the ooey-gooey picture that tempts and teases my playful little taste buds into trying the recipe.

Zelnicky is my current challenge.  It seems there's always a challenge of some kind ahead of me,  waving its arms like it has the power to egg me on.  Well, I'll let you in on a secret...I absolutely love an invitation for personal combat. I think it keeps my blades sharp.
